On the Blunders that be...

Year after year,i'm assured that the great Indian democracy is getting older and wiser.Who gives me this assurance? It comes from the powers that be! Anyone who has lived in a democracy will tell you, that is no assurance. So,what has this democracy taught us? For one,we are part of it every five years, again i.e if we choose to be,something that leads us to another thought,we are a 50% democracy every five years too, because our voter turnout does not show the euphoria that was there when this nation was born. And we are a Democracy of Mutual Indifference, because the 50% who do vote, elect a representative who has a majority cos 25+ % voted for him,who in turn rules the rest on the ground that the great democratic people voted him to power for their needs and therefore he stands for all,and from there he stands for the 5% who might or might not have voted, because it is this 5% who spend the money, for him to fool or buy the 25+% who voted for him. Very undemocratic? well,so say the 50% who didn't care to vote for in the first place because,he argues that that which is stated is the reason he doesn't vote, saying there is no difference, and that all are birds of a feather, etc arguments. well, what if the 50% did vote and had their say, considering how vocal they are about the plight of the democracy.Would things have been different? Well, this author would say that atleast we if we had a better turnout for polls would we have a better democracy, because if only we did have 80+% taking part in the process of elections which is the only thing that in the 21st cetury makes a nation democratic, would there be a democracy in the first place! Beacuse the majority is not always right yet the minority can never be right. But,why does the nation survive? Cos the majority is mutually indifferent and does not care about a democracy because the value sysytem that should have been in place so strongly in a nation that at one stage half a century ago cried for these values is thrown out the door. Now,one of the reasons for the value system to be thrown out the door is how the system worked for the past 20 years. trust and faith in the system by the common man,has bit the dust,by a series of blunders by the three estates and with the fourth estate instead of building a trust lost added to the complete destruction of the faith in these values for monetary and personal or political gain.
